I have an office, but no dedicated computer, so I am halfway to being settled in for fall, which is more than any other first year can say, since I am the only one here.
I have worked on WRF (Weather Research and Forecast model) tutorials with Reid, who has been really helpful. We got RIP4 to run, but not WRF. I did, however, get a good review of linux, emacs and all that other nerdy stuff that I really need to know. I have also made myself a simple website so that it is easier to view MATLAB graphics in loops. I'm not sure how much other stuff is going to get done before I leave for Brazil, but I have also made it to Lucas' linear algebra reviews, which make me feel a lot better about that hole in my mathematics education.
