Naming Your Linux Server

Everyone does it!. All machines in my department are linux and every box is named after a weather phenomenon! My machine is 'ridge' (as in a ridge of high pressure), my adviser's is 'ice' - getting that name was a coup. I've also seen 'haze', 'rain', 'sleet', 'modon'... the list goes on. The rule is when you get a new computer, you flip through the Glossary of Meteorology with your eyes closed and put your finger down - the term you point at is your computer's name.
