I usually like to post amusing odds and ends about weather and news here, but I thought I'd write a little today about what's going on in my life. I would tell you in person, but chances are, I haven't seen you in a while because my winter quarter has been very busy and stressful. The senior year, winter quarter in atmospheric sciences is ATM S 442: Motions II and ATM S 451: Instruments and Observations. The first is very intellectually challenging and the second is massively time consuming, and when combined with research work, have led me to spend most of my time in the ATG building this quarter. But now it is almost over, and there are many exciting things going on. I got into the UW graduate atmospheric science program, and accepted their offer. Friday and Saturday, I met non-stop with faculty and graduate students to talk about their research, and I am probably going to stick with Prof.Hakim, my current adviser, as my graduate adviser. I am really happy with this - he's patient and friendly and has a very involved approach to advising and all of the students he advises are great. I will most likely be working on some kind of predictability/dynamics problem, hopefully having to do with arctic vortices. And the best part: I get paid. I get paid to go to school.
So, I am now looking for a one bedroom apartment for June, and making other summer plans, like: Birthright trip to Israel at the end of June, a climate modeling seminar taught by my favorite applied math professor for a month in Brazil, getting my car, and visiting Berkeley. I should have a chill last quarter, just forecasting lab and some easy electives, so if I haven't seen or talked to you in a while, I hope we can get in touch.
