Start your engines! Global warming has brought arctic sea ice to a new low... so low that the fabled Northwest passage is open for the first time on record... (although the record only goes back to 1978 when satellites started recording sea ice thickness... it's safe to say though this is the first time in an even longer period since the arctic is warmer than it's been since the last ice age.) I think the political fallout over the arctic is really interesting... you don't usually hear of the law of the sea in the news.
